This connects the app's iOS and Android data streams to your existing Google Analytics 4 property, so app and web sit together as three streams in one property.
Before you start
You will need:
-
Temporary Owner access to the Firebase project (named
[client]-app), which we provide. Owner access is required to manage the Analytics link. - Editor access (or above) on the GA4 property you want the app data to land in.
Steps
- Sign in to console.firebase.google.com and open the project
[client]-app. - Go to Project settings (the gear icon), then Integrations, then Google Analytics, then Link.
- Choose “Select an existing Google Analytics property” and pick your existing web property. Using the existing property keeps web, iOS and Android as three streams in the same property. Please do not create a new property.
- Select the Analytics account that owns that property, then click Confirm.
- Verify: in GA4, go to Admin, then Data streams. You should now see Web, iOS and Android listed together.
If Firebase only shows “create new property”
Some accounts only offer the create-new option. If that happens, link from the GA4 side instead: in GA4, go to Admin, then Product links, then Firebase links, then Link, then select the project [client]-app.
After linking
- Register your custom events and user properties as custom dimensions in GA4. We can provide the full list.
- Let us know once it is linked and we will confirm events are flowing, then remove the temporary Firebase access.
